Shot Outline

1.     1) person (Thomas Kelty) isolated in a barren landscape, crawls helplessly on the verge of death.

a.     Start with first person shot sliding across the ground, then a long shot of person crawling weakly, wearing ragged clothes, and next a close up of the person crawling toward the camera revealing the exhausted face.

2.     2)He runs into the feet of the boss man (Mike Allensworth) who offers him a block of ramen noodles and water.

a.     The camera jolts on impact of the feet and pans up revealing the boss man in a white suit and hat holding out the dry noodles and water.

3.     3)Fade from black to extreme close up of a hammer hitting a wooden steak

4.     4)Close shot of Thomas Kelty hammering a wooden steak in the ground

5.     5)Show long shot of all 5 workers hammering the steaks into the ground.

a.     Workers all wear dark blue worker suits and move very machine like

6.     6)Show a close shot of each worker hammering in steaks, not interacting with any of the other workers

a.     Reveals other workers (Justin Houston, Eddie Laplante, Derrick Spencer, Thomas Smith)

7.    7)Show a series of shots with the workers hammering the steaks

a.     Shoot this shot at different times in different weather situations and seasons to imply the long period of working.  Will get as many different camera angles as possible, also combining stills with the stop motion.  Several shots will show the boss checking up on them and a few of him giving them the ramen noodles and water less and less as time goes on.  Sound collage of repetitive hammering sounds.

8.     8)We see inside one worker’s mind (Justin Houston) of him stuck in a box struggling to get out, implying his feelings of imprisonment.

9.     9)Show long shot of all workers as Justin falls out dead, and none of the workers react at all they just continue working

a.     Go through the shots inside the rest of the worker’s minds

10. 10)Show the boss man checking up on the workers to make sure they are doing the work.

a.     He slides (pixilation) across the ground and stops to examine each worker.  Show long shot of all five workers including the one on the ground dead and the boss as he slides by. Show close ups of each exhausted worker and the boss man’s calm reaction to their exhaustion and death

11. 11)Boss man points at Thomas Smith and points at the dead body telling him to dispose of it.  While he is gone the boss puts shock collars on the remaining workers

a.     Thomas Smith drags the dead body off the screen

12. 12)Boss slides around the perimeter of the fence wrapping an electrical wire around the steaks, and puts up a sign with a lightning bolt on it.

13. 13)While disposing of his dead peer, Thomas Smith sees the pile of dead bodies of previous workers.  Cut shots back and forth from bodies to Thomas to hammers hitting steaks.  He has a realization of his fate and also the other workers.  His realization makes him begin to move normal instead of like a machine.  He returns to the worksite, trying not to act different, noticing the electric fence.

14. 14)The fence is done, the workers are exhausted and dehydrated so the boss gives them ramen noodles and water and puts the collar on Thomas Smith when he gets back from disposing of the body.

a.     Boss holds out hand and the noodles and water pop into his hand magically.  The boss will always be on the outside of the fence and the workers will be inside the fence.

15. 15)Jump to workers finishing the cheap meal and the boss pointing at a pile of rocks implying that is time to get back to work and start to bust the rocks.

16. 16)The boss man leaves and the 4 workers get back to work.  Thomas Smith is trying to move like a machine but it is apparent he is faking it.  He keeps looking around nervously at the other workers.  Show close ups of his eyes and long shots of them all.

17. 17)Eventually the changed worker drops his hammer and walks over to another worker (Derrick Spencer) and tries to get his attention but he gets no reaction.  Finally Thomas Smith hits Derrick Spencer in the head knocking him out.

a.     Tighter shot only showing them two so I can split the screen making one side stop motion and one side video

18. 18)He drags the unconscious worker across the fence toward the dead bodies.  He expects the fence to shock them but it does not because the boss forgot to turn it on.

a.     Show a first person view of him dragging the body, cut to longer shot showing Thomas tense up as he crosses the fence but is surprised when he isn’t shocked.  Go back to first person shot of Thomas dragging Derrick, then flash back to the shot of him dragging the dead body.  Show the camera angle from the Derrick looking up at Thomas Smith’s reaction as he continues to drag him to the pile of dead bodies determined to change him.

19. 19)They get to the pile of dead bodies and Thomas Smith wakes Derrick Spencer, showing him their fate.

2020). The worker sees the bodies and is shocked. (Wide eyed and shaking head)  We see in his mind as he sees his own face on one of the dead bodies

21. 21)He also begins to move normal, after seemingly shaking himself out of the daze, and the two go back to get the other workers.

a.     Show long shot of them both knocking out Thomas Kelty and Eddie Laplante, then show them all walking back from the bodies normally and huddling together in the fence.

22. 22)After all the workers come to their senses they scheme up a way to overthrow the boss.  They will continue to bust the rocks and act like machines until the right moment to attack him.

23. 23)Boss brings a rich person (Jeremy Smith) to the fence and shows the workers at task like a spectacle or tourist attraction.  The rich person gives the boss money.

a.     Show boss and Jeremy close by the camera with the workers in the background in the fence.  Jump to shots of the four workers looking at each other implying its time for action.

24. 24)As the boss gives the rich person a bag of sand as a souvenir the workers storm through the fence and attack the boss as the rich person runs away

a.     Shot of boss and Jeremy close by the camera and the workers storming out of the fence toward the camera.  Jeremy runs toward the camera, leaving through the right of the screen.  The Boss holds his hands up trying to get the workers to stop but they swarm him and tackle him to the ground.

25.  25)After almost beating him to death the workers starve the boss until he will work for food.  The former boss no longer slides but crawls around struggling to even move.

a.     Shot from boss’s perspective looking up at the workers as they laugh and point hysterically.  Shot looking down at boss crawling on the ground.

26. 26)Show the workers in a fancy house eating good food and drinking enjoying the power.

27.27) Workers return to jobsite to laugh at the boss as he struggles to work, they slide around (pixilation) as a symbol that they are now in power.

28.28) The worker from the first scene (Thomas Kelty) stops sliding and has flashbacks of the boss staring at them in their exhausted state then a flashback of the boss helping him in the beginning, and realizes that now, they are even worse than the boss was to them.

a.     Thomas Kelty stands still and watches the other workers taunt the boss with a sympathetic look on his face

29. 29)He walks over to the boss and helps him, trying to get the others to stop and do the same.  They are reluctant but eventually all but one worker (Derrick Spencer) stop sliding and group around the boss to help him.

30. 30)The three workers help the Boss walk off the screen while the last worker keeps sliding around the fence as if he has workers working in the fence.

31. Last shot is the work site with no one in it.
